Step 1

STEP 1

First remove inner side trim if fitted and roof sections Your start point is the single skin of roof next to roof support bar inside the vehicle as shown in the picture and drill two small holes with 3mm about 2ft apart If your fitting two roofs then you drill two holes other side of the same support bar for second roof fitting start point Now you can draw line with marker on roof to join holes this is your first start line for marking out now find the centre of roof and draw line from start line to rear of vehicle take the metal roof frame and mark centre both sides if working on a 90 roof unit fit long ways on 110 roofs units fit side ways once you have marked the frame place on centre line and lining marks up on centre line and front edge of frame on start line this should now be central you can now draw round frame using it as template if fitting second roof to a 110 its the same process only you mark centre of roof towards front of vehicle

Step 2

step 2

We do not recommend cutting out in one go but remove small sections at a time once the hole is cut drop the frame into the hole if its tight adjust hole and make sure frame is square and try the glass in at this point if happy with fitment remove glass and frame So you can now take your headlining and fit back in vehicle you can now mark out headlining using hole as a template then remove again for cutting out hole later place the frame back in the hole then with masking tape you can tape around frame and also tape the flat edge of the frame as this saves time doing it like this then remove frame again for prep work

Step 3

step 3

Clean and prime frame and edge of the cut roof were glue contacts the roof do not use very wet applicator on the cut roof as it will bleed under the masking tape and allow to dry for 10 mins before the next stage.

Step 4

step 4

Warm up the glue on the radiator or hot water before using as this makes the glue softer to work with with the v nozzle thats pre cut in glue kit bead a nice line of even glue round the frame with no gaps

Step 5

step 5

Place the glued frame into the hole and clamp evenly all round with clamps Pay attention to alpine sides us you want metal work to be nice and even along edge of frame once clamped ,remove all excess glue making sure there are no gaps using a filler card and builders wipes when happy with the finish to the frame remove outer tape before glue starts to set . You can use soapy water to smooth edge with your finger. Leave over night to set you can cut the hole out ready for next day in headling

Step 6

step 6

Day 2 - remove clamps from the frame and remove the masking tape also fit your roof lining back into the vehicle, and with a couple of fir tree clips to hold up front take a inner frame section and clamp up with two clamps this makes drilling and pop riveting easier make sure the frame is nice and tight in corners you may need to trim the inner frames as all are handmade.

Step 7

step 7

The frame is now fitted so we can fit double glazed roof unit Clean off any excess residue glue off the edge of the glass Then from the kit use the wipes provided to clean then dry and prime the glass. Now you can also clean and prime the top of the frame where roof sits into. Leave 10 mins to dry.

Step 8

step 8

With your glue gun and warm glue ,run a nice bead of glue with V nozzle round the inside of the frame with no gaps Then with some help place the glass into the hole onto the glue and press down all round till even in frame Clean off any excess glue with DIY wipes

Step 9

Step 9

Job should now be all complete It is the same process wether fitting one or two roofs as per picture please give us a call if your not sure
