UNIVERSAL PANORAMIC ROOF FITTING GUIDE

Step 1

UNIT DESIGNED TO FIT SMOOTH ROOF DEFENDERS & 2006 ON PUMA WILL NOT FIT SERIES 2/3 TYPE ROOF Remove inside trims and headlining including wiring loom connected to light. on roll over bar fixed to roof. find the edge of single skin with a 4mm drill bit drill find rough centre and drill a hole each side of centre about a foot apart though single skin

Make sure roof is clean and dry with a marker and straight edge rule draw line across the two holes. this is your start point Now find center of roof and draw line down centre of roof Remember 90 units go length ways in roof & 110 units go length ways across the roof when fitting

Now take your frame and find centre off metalwork opposite ends and mark frame on bottom of section you can now drop frame onto roof lining up marks on centre line and top line then draw around frame. lift off frame and measure corner to corner with tape making sure it is square , this is very important. when you are happy you can mask round outside of line around 2-3" with masking tape now your ready to cut out metal work with jigsaw of nibbler make sure someone supports metal as you cut

once hole is cut out, try your frame in hole .it should just sit in nice not tight now try the glass in frame to make sure it is correct with gap around glass glass will not fit if frame is tight in hole

remove the glass and frame work again to one side and refit your roof lining .from above draw around edge of hole with sharpy onto head lining once done remove again and place to one side again drop frame into hole and with knife slowly cut around frame into masking tape lift of frame and peel away the 12mm inner tape. at this point mask the top edge of frame all the way round before moving on

Degrease frame and 12mm band on roof with wipe in kit Take the primer from glue kit if supplied and shake bottle for 2 mins. Then take cotton bud from kit and prime around hole and bottom edge of frame that seats on roof when doing roof with primer use dryish bud as you dont want primer to go under tape on the roof let primer dry 10-15 mins

Tip here is to warm glue up before using take your glue with the v nozzel provided in kit and with a nice steady hand put a v bead of glue around frame edge making sure there are no gaps Then carefully with help lift frame into hole without touching glue with fingers and start to apply clamps around the frame TIP here is use some 2" wood battern on length side inside roof when clamping

Once clamped up clean off all excess glue with a plastic filler card and big wet wipes Then remove the masking tape and let frame dry over night NEXT DAY remove clamps and masking tape

At this stage glue is setting Take your head lining and with a sharp knife cut along lines to remove centre. Ready for refitting you can also use a disc cutter but please be careful if doing so move wiring to the side along the top of side panel with plug in corner drivers side then refit your roof lining into place with poppers into roof

Take inner frames & with help place inside edge of fitted roof frame ,then with 4mm drill & pop rivet inner frames into position as tight to the roof as possible each end you can fit centre light into rear trim panel across back of roof .it fits into corner nicly you just need to cut hole same as one from roof section just above rear corner trim if fitted

prepare glass for fitting tape the outer top edge then turn over unit remove any over spill glue then degrease and prime glass also degrease inner frame and prime ready for glue let it dry also mask along edge of roof frame ready for glass fitting

Take A tube of warm glue with v nozzel and run nice neat bead around frame WITH HELP DROP ROOF CAREFULLY INTO HOLE Press down into place cut your nozzel of at an angle and fill gap between frame and glass try not to trap ait in joint once filled scrap off with filler card and wipes to clean card as you go
